The Kyrgyz Parliament considered imposing of administrative fines for violating the rules of flour fortification and supply of unfortified flour to health, education, and security institutions, according to a plenary session on December 24.
Violation of these rules will entail imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of 50,000 som ($848) with the suspension on flour sale to eliminate the violation.
Inadequate monitoring of compliance with the rules of flour fortification, delivery and use of unfortified flour by officials will result in a fine in the amount of 500 som ($8).
The same actions, committed repeatedly after the application of administrative penalties, will cause administrative fine in the amount of 10,000 som ($169).
"The decision on the penalties will be taken by courts or local authorities. The bill proposes the same fine for both legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. I propose to increase the fine for legal entities," Member of the Parliament Mairamkul Tilenchiyeva said.
"There are responsible authorities, they will solve the issue of flour fortification," member of the committee on agrarian policy, water resources, environment, and regional development Talantbek Uzakbayev added.
