Members of the Parliament Nariman Tyuleyev and Ahmatbek Keldibekov and their assistants are receiving their wages after they were arrested, chairman of the committee on rules and parliamentary ethics Ainur Altybayeva said today.
"While there is no conviction of the court, members of the Parliament will receive the wages. They do not receive the allowance for travel expenses and the car. This is the law: while we do not know for sure that a member of the Parliament is guilty, he keeps receiving the wages," she said.
Nariman Tyuleyev and Akhmatbek Keldibekov are still receiving their wages.
"Their absence at the plenary sessions is justified by a court decision. The court chose detention as the measure of restraint," she added.
MP Nariman Tuleyev in 2013 was convicted by Pervomaisky district court of Bishkek to 11 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. In 2014, the Bishkek City Court upheld the verdict.
MP Akhmatbek Keldibekov was detained in late 2013 on suspicion of abuse of office when he was speaker of the Parliament. At this time, the trial against him is suspended in connection with Keldibekov's departure for treatment.
