Outside the Customs Union, Kyrgyzstan is having certain obstacles in relations with the buyer countries, Adviser to Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Oleg Pankratov told Tazabek in an interview.
The idea of any customs unions is reducing imports and boosting exports, he believes. “GDP rate is the main economic indicator in any state. The higher GDP, the higher income of population, consequently the higher living standard is. GDP is not a mythical substance but a real indicator calculated on the basis of objective statistical data,” he said.
“We must analyze what we produce, what we sell and how it is reflected in the GDP. Our main export is gold making 40% of the total exports. It will remain unchanged in Kyrgyzstan's entry into the Union. 80% of the remaining exports go to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. The loss of even part of the volume of exports might result in a sharp decline in GDP, budget revenues, jobs, and income,” he said.
