Individual functions of the State Customs Service on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border are expected to be transferred to the State Border Service over Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Customs Union, authorities said at the weekend.
The outer border of the country will be strengthened too, Head of the State Border Service Raimberdi Duishenbiyev told AKIpress.
“We plan to purchase additional equipment for border checkpoints located on the Kyrgyz-Chinese segment, including Irkeshtam and Torugart,” he said.
The exact amount for these purposes was not voiced though.
“A certain amount will be provided... Additional funding for the purchase of equipment for border checkpoints and overhaul to restore border posts will be allocated. Also, funds for the purchase of means of communication, vehicles and engineering technology will be received,” Duishenbiyev added.
