Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia has reached 27%, thus making Russia the most important trading partner of Kyrgyzstan, President Vladimir Putin said on February 7 at the meeting with Almazbek Atambayev in Sochi.
He added that Kyrgyzstan is one of the strategic partners of Russia in Central Asia.
“We have a lot of issues but we meet regularly too. Our contacts are constantly taking place, and we're adjusting our relations. Hopefully, today's meeting will serve the same purpose. Let's see where we are in terms of the development of our relations in different spheres, and, if necessary, we'll adjust something,” Putin said.
Almazbek Atambayev, in turn, expressed hope that relations between the two countries will only deepen.
“We are now entering into the Eurasian Economic Union. Probably, it's a good thing that our meeting passes today, as it is such a memorable day... Exactly one year ago, I remember, we were sitting and watching the opening of the Winter Olympics. This, of course, was a great event... May God give Russia have many successes ahead,” he said.
