yrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Ratification of the Protocol on the Application of the Free Trade Zone Treaty of October 18, 2011 between its Parties and the Republic of Uzbekistan".
The law was adopted by the Kyrgyz Parliament on January 25, 2017.
The agreement on the free trade zone was signed at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States on October 18, 2011 in the city of St. Petersburg by eight CIS member states (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine). All the above-mentioned countries (except Tajikistan) have ratified the agreement.
The protocol on the application of the Free Trade Zone Treaty dated October 18, 2011 between its Parties and the Republic of Uzbekistan was signed in Minsk on May 31, 2013.
The protocol contains annexes on the application of export, import customs duties and the application of prohibitions and quantitative restrictions.
At the same time, according to the Protocol, the Kyrgyz Republic reserves the right to apply customs duties on the export of goods destined for the customs territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The law comes into force from the date of its official publication.
