Kazakhstan welcomes the latest ceasefire agreements for southwest Syria between Russia and the United States, Kazakh foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The truce, in force since July 9, 2017, in the provinces of Al-Quneitra, Deraa and As-Suwayda, is yet another practical step towards a comprehensive cessation of hostilities throughout Syria," the statement said.
"We call on all the forces that support the prompt resolution of the Syrian conflict, including Syria's government and the armed opposition, to fully observe the ceasefire. We hope for the further development of constructive interaction between Russia, the United States and all other stakeholders, for the sake of restoring peace and stability in Syria. We express full support for the UN-led Geneva peace talks on Syria, and look forward to the achievement of concrete decisions within the political process towards resolving the Syrian crisis," the statement said.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is ready to provide the necessary conditions for the continuation of peace negotiations within the Astana Process, in the hope of strengthening the ceasefire in Syria, the statement adds.
