Bishkek is leading in terms of air pollution among all regions of Kyrgyzstan. At the beginning of this year its degree was close to the critical level, the collegium of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic (MESKR) stressed today.
Deputy Minister Davletbek Alimbekov said that the permissible level of atmospheric pollution is up to 0.06 microsievert, but in January 2018 it increased to 0.15 microsievert. The situation could have worsened had it not been precipitation by that time.
Alimbekov added that the radiation background stabilized due to the warming of the air, as well as of precipitation, which caused a decrease in the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. To date, these indicators are higher than normal, but are not sufficient to impose a critical situation.
