167,000 children under the age of 5 are malnourished, underweight, and shorter than they should be, lawmaker Aida Kasymaliyeva said during the parliament meeting on March 29.
Lawmaker reminded that the parliament is to consider the draft law on state benefits.
She noted that welfare program “Balaga jolok” is very important.
"If today we do not endorse these social payments, we will become a parliament that does not think about the future generation. These pitiful 700 soms will be enough to buy vitamins and milk for children," said Kasymalieva.
The list of recipients of “Balaga jolok” state benefits will be examined and well off families will be excluded.
Children of the doctors and teachers will be covered, she added.
