The meeting of the Council of Heads of the Border Regions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in the city of Fergana is resulted in signing a protocol by heads of governments of the two countries, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported.
Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov said that fruitful work had been carried out, and during the meeting the sides discussed all the available issues, many of which came to a consensus.
"Today, we were once again convinced of the wise and far-sighted decision of the heads of state to create such a format for the dialogue between the heads of border regions under the chairmanship of the Prime Ministers. I want to note that there are no unresolved issues. In their speech, the regional leaders noted the great unrealized potential, which should be increased," said Abdulla Aripov.
The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan also said that on many of the issues discussed today the relevant state bodies were given the necessary instructions.
"We are open to dialogue and building up bilateral relations with the fraternal Kyrgyz people. In addition, today there are all the necessary conditions and prerequisites for establishing mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation between the regions of the two countries," he said.
Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sapar Isakov stressed that the issues of cross-border cooperation have a special character in bilateral relations.
"Today, with great confidence, I want to say that we were able to agree on almost all the issues on the agenda. Our delegation came with good and firm intentions to find more effective ways of promoting interregional cooperation. The tasks assigned to the members of our delegations should be fulfilled on time," the head of the Kyrgyz government said.
In conclusion, Sapar Isakov invited the Uzbek delegation led by Abdullah Aripov to visit Kyrgyzstan for the second meeting of the Council of the Heads of Border Regions of the two republics.
Following the meeting, the heads of government signed the protocol of the first meeting of the Council of Heads of the Border Regions of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the city of Fergana.
