A peacekeeping unit of women should be established in Kyrgyzstan, former President of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva said on October 16 during the international conference in support of women in law enforcement in Bishkek.
She exampled similar female unit that exists in Mongolia. “I myself worked in peacekeeping forces,” the ex-President of Kyrgyzstan noticed.
The Association of Women Police should be engaged in the establishment procedures.
“Unfortunately, there are more than 20 hot spots in the world. Peacekeeping activities are largely funded, and we have specialists. We should and we can deal with this work,” she noticed.
“Women are needed in critical situations... Women come into conflict zones to bring peace among the people,” Otunbayeva concluded.
