53% of mosques in Naryn region of Kyrgyzstan are officially unregistered, the press service of the regional police department said on November 19.
In total, there are 118 mosques in the region but only 55 of them have been registered by the State Commission for Religious Affairs.
There are also 17 places of worship (namazkana), 3 madrasas, 1 religious foundation in the region.
119 imams work at the mosques. 11 of them have higher education degrees, 21 – finished courses for imams, 22 – studied at madrasas, and 65 – studied independently.
