The main activities of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan fully comply with the principles of education for sustainable development, said Deputy Minister Toktobubu Ashymbayeva on December 4 at the round table discussion of the results of the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development held in Japan.
“Education for sustainable development is aimed at ensuring economic viability, equity, social accord, environmental protection and sustainable development of natural resources in order to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the future. These principles are enshrined in the National Sustainable Development Strategy, the Concept and Education Development Strategy until 2020,” said Ashymbayeva.
The main activities after 2015 are development and adoption of state standards of education, providing access to education through the reconstruction and construction of safe, energy-efficient schools.
In addition, one of the important directions of the Ministry's activities in the sphere of education for sustainable development is to provide a professional training based on the principles of "green" economy.
